Founded in 1982, Atlantic Psychiatric Center has grown from a single private practice into a trusted mental health group serving Brevard County. Our team provides thoughtful outpatient care for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families with a commitment to professionalism, compassion, and continuity of support.
Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Jacobson has served Brevard County for two decades, with experience spanning private practice, inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison work, psychotherapy, and medication management. He also treats complex psychiatric illness and offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for depression that has been difficult to treat.
Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Brown is a board-certified psychiatrist who joined Atlantic Psychiatric Center in 2015 after completing residency training at the University of Florida. He provides adult psychiatric care with a focus on thoughtful evaluation and ongoing treatment support.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Andrews is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who completed medical school at the University of Florida and both general psychiatry residency and fellowship training at the University of Southern California. Her background includes leadership, advocacy, and long-standing work in child mental health and equity in care.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Jenifer Raymond is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who provides patient-centered care across the lifespan. Her background includes forensic, child and adolescent psychiatry, oncology, and maternity nursing, with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making.
Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist
Dr. Cohen treats a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, schizophrenia, PTSD, and sleep disorders. He is board certified in both general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, with additional geriatric training at the University of Florida.
Psychiatrist
Dr. Scholl is a board-certified psychiatrist who joined APC in 2022 after completing residency at the University of Florida, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident and received the Ross A. McElroy Psychotherapy Award. He offers collaborative treatment that may include therapy, medication management, holistic strategies, and TMS for depression.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Lisa LeDoux is a board-certified PMHNP with more than a decade of psychiatric nursing experience, plus additional progressive care experience. She provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and related mood concerns.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Armando Gutierrez is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and military veteran who provides holistic, patient-focused care. His training includes family systems psychiatric mental health nursing at Case Western Reserve University, and his clinical interests include anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, substance use, and other psychiatric conditions.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Madison Chambers uses evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, and humanistic therapy for individuals age 16 and older. Her background also includes community crisis support, mental health consultation, and volunteer work in suicide prevention and critical incident stress management.
Psychologist
Dr. Reffner has worked in mental health since 1974 across community mental health, VA outpatient clinics, and private practice. He uses CBT as a primary framework and works with depression, adjustment disorders, PTSD, chronic pain, chronic mental illness, and anxiety and stress.

Dr. Tyding provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Her integrative approach draws from CBT, psychodynamic, and family systems models and is tailored to each patient’s goals, needs, and larger life context.

Dr. Shuy provides psychotherapy for teens and adults using cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches. He also conducts psychological testing and neuropsychological screenings, with clinical interests that include grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, health-related stress, and relationship concerns.

Walt Hersing brings extensive behavioral health and employee assistance experience, including workplace and organizational stress. His collaborative approach may incorporate cognitive-behavioral, mind-body, family systems, and positive psychology strategies, with additional training in PTSD care, EMDR, and related modalities.

Victoria Pospisil has more than 12 years of counseling experience and uses cognitive-behavioral and other practical approaches to support anxiety, depression, mood concerns, life stress, anger management, goal setting, and coping skills.

Maria Capehart is a bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking therapist who works with adults, couples, LGBTQ+ clients, immigrants, and other diverse communities. Her integrative approach draws from CBT, motivational interviewing, and person-centered therapy to support mood concerns, anxiety, relationship stress, transitions, addiction, and trauma.
